Privacy Policy

Life in the UK Test Prep ("the App") is developed by LegacyLink Systems. This policy explains how the App handles your data.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device using SharedPreferences:

• Quiz scores, attempt history, and progress
• App settings and preferences
• Bookmarked (favourite) questions
• Achievement and streak history
• In-progress quiz state (for resume on reload)

This data remains on your device unless you sign in with Google or Apple to enable cloud sync.

Accounts & Authentication

When you first open the App, an anonymous Firebase account is created automatically. This account has no personal information attached to it.

You may optionally sign in with Google or Apple to enable cloud backup and sync across devices. When you do, we receive:

• Your display name and email address (from Google or Apple)
• A unique user identifier

This information is used solely to identify your account for data sync. We do not send marketing emails or share your information with third parties.

Cloud Sync

If you sign in with Google or Apple, your quiz progress, settings, and achievements are synced to Google Cloud Firestore so you can access them across devices. This data is stored under your unique user ID and is not shared with other users. You can delete your cloud data at any time by deleting your account in Settings or visiting our data deletion page.

Crash Reporting

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports. These contain technical information (device model, OS version, stack traces) to help us fix bugs. No personal data or quiz answers are included.

Remote Configuration

The App uses Firebase Remote Config to manage feature flags and in-app announcements. No personal data is sent as part of these requests.

Analytics

The landing page at lifeintheuktest.now uses Google Analytics (GA4) to measure site traffic. This collects anonymous usage data such as page views, referral sources, and device type. You can decline analytics cookies via the cookie banner.

The App itself does not use analytics tracking beyond crash reporting.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Location data
• Contacts, photos, or files
• Advertising identifiers
• Browsing history

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — for anonymous and social sign-in. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
• Cloud Firestore (Google) — for cloud data sync when signed in.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — for anonymous crash reporting.
• Firebase Remote Config (Google) — for feature flags and announcements.
• Google Analytics (GA4) — landing page only, for anonymous traffic analysis.

Data Retention

Local data is retained on your device until you uninstall the App or reset your progress in Settings. Cloud data (if synced) is retained until you delete your account. Crash reports are retained by Firebase for 90 days.

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

• Local data: Use "Reset All Progress" in Settings, or uninstall the App.
• Cloud data & account: Use "Delete Account" in Settings, or visit our data deletion page.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
